How is a moral different from a theme

    A moral is often an implied lesson you can learn from a character's experience, and theme is an overarching message communicated through setting, characters and action.

    The theme has a lot to do with the tone/mood the story is set it, while the moral is the summary of the cause and effect of the major conflict the story has.
