First off, can i just say to kill a mockingbird is an amazing book!

    Second,

After the verdict is read, and Tom is found guilty, the black community, sitting in the balcony of the courthouse in their segregated section, rises as a whole when Atticus walks out of the courthouse. They know that Atticus has done his best to defend Tom Robinson. After the trial, food is brought to Atticus's home as a sign of respect.
