To show that the journalist knows more about what happened. I think this may be the case because the translator who I assume is the journalist raised his voice at Iqbal as did the mother to Iqbal's answer to the question about what happened after the shot was fired and the fact that Iqbal was " crying and confused" may mean he has some guilt in the affair.
