Hansel and Gretel are cast out of their home by their wicked stepmother who also represents the Shrew archetype. They are young and innocent at the beginning of the story and could be called Ingénues. Later in the story, they prove their cleverness and become the heroes of the story when they outsmart the wicked witch. They even meet a friendly beast in their adventure. Their father could be called a Fool, or at the least henpecked, because he is so easily persuaded by the wicked stepmother. The children have definitely also lost their innocence as a result of this experience.
