Discuss how one culture contributed to modern science

I'm going to give one example, but don't just take my example the Chinese for example are known for a lot.

Arabs was a culture that contributed a lot, several of their contributions include those relating Anatomy and Physiology (and hence medicine) and astronomy. But the one most important thing you've probably never knew was numbers and algebra, which are used by every subscjence in the world.
