    I would say the conquest of Mexico by the Spaniards illustrates the geographic theme of colonialism whereby the Spaniards defeated the Aztecs and then took over their country against their will and then proceeded to remove the riches in such metals as silver and sent it to Spain. So what used to be an Aztec kingdom became a colony of Spain.
