    Patriarchy - Most societies place the fate of women at the mercy of their male relatives such as brothers, fathers, and husbands. Men are positioned in better positions than women whom they are mandated to control by the society.

    Social structures - Some societies consider women inferior. As such, parents with boys are considered considered to their counterparts with female children.
