    Most of the charged particles from the sun are deflected around earth by the Earth's magnetic field.

    Inside the Earth lies molten core. High percentage of the core is iron. This iron rotates around the center and create magnetic field. This field extends out of the Earth into the space. It surrounds Earth and protects it from the charged particles. Those particles are diverted to the magnetic poles and they create lights in the atmosphere by reacting with gases in atmosphere. On the north magnetic pole we can see northern lights (aurora borealis) and on the south magnetic pole we can see south lights (aurora australis).
