    The location of volcanoes is related to the theory of plate tectonics because the location is dependent upon the plate boundaries. When convection currents move the Earth's plates, the plates then converge or diverge and magma shoots out through openings called volcanoes (in divergent boundaries, magma rises through the ridge to fill the gaps, forming underwater divergent volcanoes). Since this happens at plate boundaries, volcanoes are also found here
