The Himalayan Mountain Range was formed when the two continental landmasses--the Indian Plate and the Eurasian Plate, collided after a series of plate movements. It roughly began forty to fifty million years ago and it is still happening today. The two continental landmasses has the same rock density meaning that one plate could not be driven under the other, but instead shot upwards and formed the Himalayan Mountain Range.
