Why do many deserts exist at 30° north and south latitudes? a. The temperature is much higher at these latitudes; therefore, moisture evaporates much more quickly. b. Horizontal mountain ranges exist just above these latitudes, resulting in large rain shadows. c. At this latitude, cold air falls downward and becomes warmer, which means it can hold more moisture. d. This is a low pressure zone where air ascends, taking the moisture with it. e. These latitudes receive more solar energy than most other latitudes, making them much warmer and dryer than other areas.
