Why is a globe not the best model to use when studying the earth surface

The globe is the most accurate way to represent Earth, but it is less practical than a map. For this reason, cartographers use different mathematical systems called projections, which are networks of meridians and parallels drawn on a flat surface to try to transfer a spherical reality to a flat surface, the map.

Another problem that geographers face is to represent the great extent of the Earth in the limited space of a map, solved by using a scale, which allows to expand or decrease a surface respecting its proportions.
