    C. The competence increases

    Explanation:

A delta is a landform that are created by the deposition of the sediments and is carried by a river system as the flow leaves the mouth and slowly enters the slow-moving stagnant water. The supply of the sediment controls the formation of the delta, ad the location of the receiving basin. As the slope of the channel decreases the gravity makes the flow of watercourse downwards. As a result, the deposition of the sediments raised the channel bed, relative to the floodplain. Some of the flow remains in the channel beds and the channel switching event occurs, and the mature deltas develop into a distribution network.
