The Battle of Coleto Creek (March 19-20 1836) took place in an open prairie environment with high grass. This gave a tactical advantage to the Texan defenders and aided them to resist Mexican infantry and cavalry attacks. High grass difficulted the vision and a realistic appraisal of the battlefield by Mexican commanders. Nevertheless, there was little water in the area, so the defenders couldn't give water to their wounded nor cool their cannons. Texans surrendered.
