The establishment of the first human settlements has been due to numerous factors, some more important than others. The most important factors were drinking water, fertile soil, production of crops, and irrigation water. These four things enabled the humans to start doing something they have never done before, settle in one place permanently and being bale to survive in it without depending strictly on mother nature. This is why the first human settlements have been made in the valleys of the big rivers. Once the humans saw the potential of some wild crops, they started to plant them. The river valleys were the best places for this. The soil was deep and very fertile, and each year there were new fertile deposits from the floods. There was always water fro drinking and irrigation, so the crops were thriving and the humans had the basic things for living at disposal. This resulted in surplus in food production, so the humans solved their biggest problem, started to use the spare time, and specialize in all sorts of things.
