    200km is really a far distance. As the tsunami approaches shore, it expands. As it gets unto land, it expands further.

    Its energy is greatly reduced on land when it collides with various objects such as large buildings, trucks and other objects it encounters in its path. Eventually, it dies off even within a few kilometers.
