    Explanation: There is frequent collision between the Pacific and the North American plate. Both the plate forms a transform boundary as well as a convergent boundary depending on the direction of motion of the plates.

    The Pacific plate gets subducted under the north American plate in its east and south-eastern side, but towards the center of the eastern side, the Pacific plate experiences a transform boundary with the North American plate. The famous San Andreas fault is located there.

    The Canadian west coast is located near to the ring of fire and this areas experiences frequent earthquakes. So we can conclude that the Canadian west coast is an active margin.
