    Sir Francis Drake was the first englishman to circumnavigate the globe.

    Explanation:

    However, he was not the first European. Ferdinand Magellan is often credited with this but he died during the voyage and Sebastian Elcano took over the expedition. They sailed about 50 years earlier than Sir Francis Drake.
