river delta preservation at the mouth of the Mississippi River

    Explanation:

The multiple dams that have been built on the Mississippi River have numerous purposes, and they are of great benefit for the people that live along this river. The dams are used for accumulation of water and using it for irrigation in the agriculture. They are very important in preventing floods. Because the amount of fish has increased and the water is more stagnant, it has been widely used for recreation by the people. All of the dams are also used for production of hydroelectrical power, which contributes to greater stability with providing electricity to the local population. One thing that has not been taken in consideration is the preservation of the delta of the river. In fact, the dams have largely stopped the natural process through which big amounts of deposits have been left at the mouth of the river, thus creating the delta. With the dams though, the amount of deposits is significantly lowered down, while the erosion has increased, so the delta will gradually lose its shape.
