    They most certainly do need to be conserved, or at least cared for. We cannot treat water as a garbage disposal and air as though it will last forever no matter what we do.

Conservation is the practice of caring for these resources so all living things can benefit from them now and in the future ... These are renewable resources. Other resources, such as fossil fuels, cannot be replaced at all.
