What is the reasons for north and south Korea's differing standards of living?

North Korea differs in standards of living because of the strict policies formed by the government as compared to the policies which are liberal in South Korea.

South Korea is said to be more developed than North Korea. The lifestyle of the people living in Southern area of Korea is said to be more free and liberal as compared to the northern area of Korea. People living in South Korea are paid well and enjoy better standards of living.

People in North Korea can not leave their country or move any where even with in the country without the permission. They do not enjoy as good standard of living.
