Many now consider Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt to be two of America's greatest presidents. Both led the nation through long and bloody wars but there are differences in how Americans viewed these men while they were in office. For instance, Roosevelt was much admired as he led the United States during World War II but the public was often angry at Lincoln and his handling of the Civil War was frequently condemned.
