    Ghana, which generally has a warm and humid climate, comprises five distinct geographical regions. They include:

    1. The Low Plains: this encompasses all the southern part of Ghana.

    2. The Ashanti Uplands: this comprise the region of western area of Ghana, right from Ivory Voast border to the elevated edge of the Volta Basin near Togo.

    3. The Akwapim-Togo: this area span across the eastern part of the Ghana starting from the west of Accra, through northeastern direction, reaching the western part of Togo.

    4. The Volta Basin: this is associated with the central part of Ghana and covers about 45 percent of the nation's total area. It has poor soil, generally of Voltaian sandstone.

    5. The High Plains: this encompasses all the northern and northwestern part of Ghana. It is characterized by its dissected plateau. In this area, there is arable soils at large compared to the Volta Basin.
