A footpath is to be constructed in a park in the shape of a parallelogram. When a coordinate plane is laid over a map of the park, the vertices of the footpath are (-4,2) (8,2) (11,7) and (-1,7). What is the perimeter of this path

    Answer: perimeter = 35.66 units

    Explanation:

    AB=8 - (-4) = 12

    CD=11 - (-1) = 12

    BD=√ (11-8) ² + (7-2) ² = √=34

    AC=√ (-1 - (-4)) ² + (7-2) ² = √=34

    Perimeter = AB + CD + BD + AC

    perimeter=2*12+2√34 = 24+2√34 = 35.66 units
