Say you live in a village; changes are that this village is producing a crob that is sold to (global) cities. When the demand of this crop changes, life will change in your village. Even in the positive scenario (a growing demand) life can dramatically change, due to deforestation or watershortage provoked by the monoculture, as with the growing international avocado market for example.

If you live in a big city your life is influenced as well by economical and social changes that occur somewhere else. It is safe to say that the Coronavirus is an example of how global interaction can provoke far-reaching effects.
