Nationalism is a way of thinking that says that some groups of humans, such as ethnic groups, should be free to rule themselves. Nationalists think that the best way to make this happen and avoid control or oppression by others is for each group to have their own nation.

Colonialism is a process by which a country takes over new land, and reorganizes that land's economy to benefit the colonizing power, rather than to benefit the residents of the colony. Colonialism works to funnel wealth back to the colonizer while inhibiting the development of the colony.

    NO

    Explanation:

No. However, both Nationalism and Colonialism are closely related depending upon the context, situation and application.

    By definition:

Nationalism - Strong feeling for one's own nation and its interest against others.

Colonialism - Practice of occupying control over different countries to safeguard its own interest. It involves economic exploitation.

The close relation between Colonialism and Nationalism arises from the feeling of patriotism in the colonizers. The boundaries stretch beyond a native country in the disguise of nationalism which is in reality seeking control and dominance over the colonized country. It hides behind the veil of economic, political and territorial expansion of the Colonials. The ill intention seeks justification from the concept of Nationalism. A mode to exploit rather subjugate another nation in the name of nationalism is a delusion of the very idea of Nationalism.

Example: British occupation of India was in the name of nationalism. However, it was a complete self centered idea of English supremacy over Indians seeking approval from white man's supremacy.
