Carbon moves from the human to the environment. You emit the carbon dioxide gas (CO2) into the environment every time you exhale. Animals and plants continue to remove carbon dioxide emissions by way of a mechanism called respiration. When fuel is burnt, the pollution travels from fossil sources into the environment.
