Why do hurricanes spin in opposite directions?

    This is how the hurricanes are created: In the Northern Hemisphere, winds moving north will move to the east, and winds that are moving south are diverted westward. In the Southern Hemisphere, winds blowing toward the equator will move eastward, and winds traveling in the opposite direction will curve west.

    This process results in winds colliding and swirling clockwise in the south, and counterclockwise in the north.
