    Mantle plumes are defined as the large vertical columns of uprising magma, where the hot and less dense magma rises up more rapidly and vigorously due to the generation of convection current in the mantle. These magmas directly originates from the deep core-mantle boundary, provided with the intense core heat energy.

    These magmas when rises upwards, pressure decreases and erupts on the surface forming volcano or a chain of volcanoes. This region undergoes rapid and active volcanic activity, which is collectively known as the hotspots.
