Incidents of Basque violence are caused by their desire for independence. There have been several separatist movements within the country due to nationalism due to some inhabitants of the region wanting to be it's own nation, so that it can promote the cultural unity of Basque culture. Basques are divided into three regions: the autonomous region, Navarre in Spain and French basque country in France).
