Erosion is reaction of the surface processes.

The fossil discoveries in the Great Rift Valley of Africa are due to the natural exposure of them because of the processes happening in this part of Africa. The Great Rift Valley of Africa is forming and getting wider and wider because the eastern part of Africa is moving away in eastern direction from the African continent. Because of the widening gap between the continent and the separating part the deeper layers of ground are becoming exposed and lots of times digging is not even necessary because fragments of the fossils just stick out of the lower layers of the ground.
