The people of the United States speak many different languages. According to the 2000 U. S. Census, approximately 82 percent of the population only spoke English, 11 percent only spoke Spanish, 7 percent only spoke other languages, including Indo-European, Asian, and Pacific Island. Use the information in the paragraph above to create a chart that illustrates the languages spoken in the United States. Create your chart using pencil and paper.     You could make a bar graph with the languages on the x-axis and the percent number on the y-axis. A bar graph shows how much of one language is spoken widely ranged than another one.
