Climates are classified according to two major factors: elevation and latitude. latitude and temperature. elevation and precipitation. precipitation and temperature.

The two factors which determine the climate are the temperature and precipitation - this is why not all the places on the same latitude have the same climate (for example, the US has a colder climate than Europe because Europe is made warmer due to the Gulf Stream)
