The reasons for trade with other countries is that

    - certain goods, specially foods (coffe and chocolate would not be available in Australia without the trade) need to be imported from abroad

    - if a country has a surplus of certain goods, it can trade them for money or other goods, introducing more wealth

    this holds for Australia, too

Why does Australia trade with other countries?

    1. Australia trades with other countries to import products Australians need but can't obtain in Australia.

Further more another reason for Australia trading with other countries is to improve the relationship they have with that country e. g. If Japan have a new technology and Zimbabwe have the same technology, Australia would trade with Japan to improve the ralationship bonds.
