How does Creosote Bush survive in the desert?

First it's drought tolerant it can live for at least 2 years without water by shedding it's leafs and branches or allowing it's leaves to dry down or turn golden brown in seasons of drought so it can still synthesis some sugars enough to keep the plants alive
