    Use the Pythagorean Theorem (a2 + b2 = c2), where a and b are the leg lengths and c is the hypotenuse, therefore:

    a2 + b2 = c2, a=4, b=7, c=?

    4x4 + 7x7 = c2

    16 + 49 = c2

    c = √65

    so c = 8.06
