    Renewable resources. Both trees and sunlight theoretically will never run out, at least not in our lifetime. Since they will not run out, they are renewable. Materials such as fossil fuels, coal, or oil are considered nonrenewable because they take millions of years to form, so if they were to run out in our lifetime, we would never have them again. Hence, the term nonrenewable.
