Explain the difference between nutrient-dense foods and calorie-dense foods. Give an example of each.

    Nutrient-dense foods are foods that have a lot of nutrients but relatively few calories.

    Ex: Salmon

    Calorie-dense foods are foods such as fat and refines sugars, provide many calories in a small amount of food

    Ex: Avocados

    Calorie-dense foods may contain a high number of calories, but little or no nutritional value. Ex - milkshake, chocolate cake

    Nutrition-dense foods may not have a large amount of calories, but are packed with vitamins and minerals. Ex - a strawberry, spinach
