In the war on terrorism the targets of United States Strikes were Taliban and the Al Quida groups. The Taliban which refers to itself as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan held power in Afghanistan and enforced strict Sharia, Islamic law. The Al Qaeda on the other hand were made up of a network of Islamic extremist.
