How do you think taxes effect government economic policy today?

Payment of taxes is a means of generating revenue for the government, therefore, compliance to tax payment and a whole lot of other issues surrounding taxes can increase or decrease the amount of income the government receives, and this would, in turn, affect government economic policy.
