Connecticut's first constitution the orders

The Connecticut orders were the first binding legal document of the area which served the function of a constitution and since it was written it also resembled one. It is considered to be the first written Constitution in the Western tradition which is why many call it the constitution state. It got repealed eventually when the royal charter came into effect.
