How did the Abbasid Empire unite such a diverse a diverse population?

    They united them under the same religion. The Abbasid Caliphate was based around Islamic beliefs and they were joined by various Arab tribes and nations because they all shared the same beliefs. It is no wonder that it was called the period of the Golden Age of Islam. The period ended when Mongols and Turks took much of their land and weakened them.
