    The Ottoman empire began at the beginning of the 1300 century and traded with countries from Algeria all the way to Russia. The empire's location in the region of Turkey, at the border of Europe and Asia was instrumental in facilitating the empire's success in trade. At the height of the empire they controlled south eastern Europe to the gates of Vienna and portions of the Middle east.
