    The correct answer is B. Missionaries were sent to both areas.

    There were many people in those seas and it didn't belong just to the British Empire. The areas were capable of fending off imperial powers as some countries in Africa never got colonized to begin with and remained independent. Africa was colonized by many powers so English was not the only thing that they were taught.
