Do you think the permanent distribution of land to former slaves would have made a difference in the outcome of Reconstruction? Why or why not?

    Yes--it would have given blacks economic security and something to pass on to generations to come.

    No--racism still would have existed and more than likely violence against black land owners would have been rampant.

    Generations of sharecropping and dependence on land owners kept blacks economically behind and never allowed for black farm workers from advancing.
