This may be wrong, but the way I see it was when the Europeans, such as Britain, colonized the South of the U. S., the Natives noticed their power and fame and wanted to be them after a while. At first the natives wanted to defend themselves, but after a few years/decades, the Natives saw how successful and powerful they were, and wanted to not be exactly like them, but change things here and there. The natives gave in and changed how they live and settle, and became more successful. Don't get me wrong, not all natives did this and the ones that did not change drastically, but in a way they became different.
