How has the diversity of the middle east affected its recent history?

The natural diversity of the Middle East is rich in oil and gas reserves. Due to their this richness, other countries are making allies with the Middle-Eastern nations, in order to gain oil and gas supply from them, and in exchange, they provide them with money and military forces as well. So, this has made Middle-East richer. But, it has also led to political wars to hold control over these reserves and thus, war situations have also occurred in the Middle-East.
