    The correct answer is that they tried to take a more traditional laissez - faire approach. This means they were more libertarian towards business owners which was uncommon for the progressive era since most business related legislature during the progressive era was about reducing the power of the company owners. They admired the productive manufacturers who advanced the industry and wanted to make the economy based around them and gave them more rights to do as they wished.
