What event marked the end of armed resistance between the federal government and the plains indians?

    The Battle of Wounded Knee was the event that finally ended the resistance that the Plains Indians and the federal government had been embroiled in. This South Dakota battle took place in December of 1890, and somewhere between 150-300 Lakota men, women and children were killed.
