    Chandragupta was known fro spreading towards the west and consolidating the entire north of the region. The Maurya empire only got the south under its control, and not the entire south to be precise, under later emperors such as Bindusara and Ashoka. Only the later emperors managed to conquer all of India according to what is India today.
